NYAB Sverige AB is building a new fire station in Kiruna.
NYAB is awarded the contract for "New construction for the rescue service and school transport".
The contract between NYAB and Kiruna municipality concerns construction and civil engineering work on the property "Industry 9: 7" in Kiruna. BYA is about 4000 m2 and the total volume of the plot is just under 29000 m2.
The project is a consequence of the social transformation that is taking place in Kiruna, to secure the future of mining. The contract value exceeds SEK 100 million, during this year preparatory ground work and frost protection will be carried out and next spring construction will begin, which will be completed in December 2019.
- Construction projects are always interesting. For me, however, this project is extra interesting due to its volume and its significance for the society in which I grew up and live. The fact that I recently stepped into my job with the task of establishing NYAB's construction operations in Kiruna does not detract either, says John Stålnacke, Site Manager, NYAB.
- We do not just want to be involved in transforming society. We want to be involved in developing it, to build for Kiruna municipality and these socially important functions feel very good, says Johan Rahkola, Business Area Manager Construction, NYAB.
- We have won the trust of Kiruna municipality and will nurture that trust, this project fits perfectly into our portfolio and our investment. It has been fun to see all the committed employees during the tender and calculation phase as well as the teamwork behind this contract, concludes Johan Larsson, CEO, NYAB.
